A. Choi - I Confirmed My Faith in Christ Jesus

All family members on my dad’s side are Christians, which influenced my life to follow the ways of being a Christian. My parents and my aunt served at church and helped around a lot.  My parents would sometimes teach Sunday school which I went to and my aunt is a church leader.  I’ve come to Christ by watching people around me like my family serving Christ passionately and being taken care of by these people.  To this day, these people still passionately serve Christ.  Being around these devoted Christians gave me motivation to serve God.  These people inspired me to take the next step of faith and to build a closer relationship with God.  I was surrounded by wonderful Christians back then, but I didn’t know what it meant to be Christian.  Back then, I was a pretty annoying kid.  I would lock my sister out of the car, whine a lot, lie, disobey my parents and overall was not a good person.  As I grew closer to Christ, I felt the need to change myself.  I needed to put myself out there and be a better person.  Looking back, I can see how God has helped me do this in my life.  I talked to people more and was friendly to many people.  I stopped annoying my sister as much.  I wouldn’t talk back to my parents.  Slowly, I became better and connected more through Christ.

Entering highschool, I went through a process called confirmation to confirm and strengthen my faith in Jesus. Going through this process helped me realize I am a sinner, and I must repent for all my sins that I committed, knowingly or not. Therefore I prayed to confess my sins, accept Christ Jesus in my heart to be my Lord and Savior.  Thank God through my faith in Christ, I became a child of God, and I have received God’s gift of eternal life.

Confirmation helped me also recognize the importance of sacrifice to follow Jesus.  God calls us to spread the gospel and to save souls so that they can rejoice in the kingdom of heaven.  This is what I strive to do.  There is still much growing in faith that I need to do.  I will continue to learn and educate myself in the Bible so that I may be able to spread His good word.  I will continue pray to God to strengthen my relationship with Him, so that He may call me to do His work.  My faith will only continue to grow stronger from this point and on.  I plan to continue growing in faith by serving God at church through serving on the youth staff team.  I will use this position to ensure people become more connected to God through Friday night fellowships.
