I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior in 1995. When I was at the beginning of high school, I met couple of so-called “friends”. We hanged out together frequently. Sometimes, we even hanged out on the street at night, starting at around 11:00pm. During that time, I began to go party, drinking, smoking and cursing. My parents didn’t know what I was doing outside. They just didn’t want me to hang out that late. My mom tried to negotiate with me. She said she would let me hang out at night once a week, but I wouldn’t listen to her. I still went out at night whenever I wanted. My mom had tried many ways to hold me back, but they all failed. My mom had started giving up on me.
During that time, my dad was brought to a church to learn English by one of our relatives’ friends. My dad still didn’t give up on me. He thought if I could get to know some “good” friends, it might help me to be “good” again. He started forcing me to attend a high school fellowship in a church. I still remember every Sunday, my dad would bring me to the high school fellowship room. He talked to the fellowship counselors to make sure I won’t sneak out in the middle of the fellowship program. When the program finished, he would pick me up. I had no interest in fellowship and I always leave as soon as the program finished. There was one time when one of the fellowship’s counselors resigned and people had prepared a cake for him. That was the first time I stayed a bit late after the program was done. When I was eating the cake, one of the counselors came over and asked me if I would like to join their church’s summer
conference. I was interested because I didn’t like New York at that time and would like to leave New York to Pennsylvania for a couple of days.
One day when I looked around in the summer conference, I saw the amazing nature – beautiful blue sky, white clouds, mountain with green trees and a placid lake. I knew in my heart that there must be “someone” created all these beautiful natures. I wouldn’t believe they just exist by themselves. I started asking questions from counselors, fellowship-mates, and I found out the answer. During an evangelistic meeting night, I was moved by Holy Spirit and I raised my hand to accept Jesus Christ as my personal savior. After the meeting, the fellowship counselor explained the full gospel to me. I repented, prayed with my counselor and accepted Jesus Christ to live in my heart as my personal savior.
I could really feel the almighty powers from God right after I believed in Him. God gave me the strength to reflect my past and changed my life. I still remember the first thing I did when I got home from summer conference was apologizing to my mother. God gave me huge courage and strength to do this because saying sorry wasn’t an easy
thing, especially I never felt that I was doing wrong before God shone His light on me. God changed my life bit by bit. He used different ways to help me quit smoking, drinking, cursing, partying and to set apart from those “friends”. These changes didn’t come easy and was quite painful sometimes, but God gave me strength and He guided me
through all the difficulties. No one in my family was Christian back then. However, God showed His blessings to my family through me. Before I accepted Jesus, my relationship with my sister was very bad. I remember I always curse at her, but my sisters saw my changes and she followed me to church. Later, she became a real Christian. After eight years of prayers, my mother had accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior as well. When I looked back my life, I do not dare to imagine what I would be if I haven’t
believed in Jesus. Jesus had really touched and changed my life.
